Uzbekistan to direct 84bn soums to development of digital television
(UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will direct some 83.8 billion soums to development of terrestrial digital television network in the country.
The project on development of terrestrial digital television network was included to the programme of construction works for 2015. Within the project it is planned to install digital transmitters.
The volume of capital investments into the project in 2015 will make up 83.8 billion soums, of which 9.2 billion soums will be directed to construction-assembly works.
Currently about 54% of population has access to digital television – citizens of Tashkent city, majority of districts of Tashkent region, Samarkand region, Khorezm region, Bukhara region, Andijan region, Namangan region, Ferghana region, Navoi region, Kashkadarya region and Karakalpakstan
Uzbekistan is implementing a programme on transfer to digital television, which is realized in two stages – first stage in 2013-2015 and second stage in 2016-2017.
About 84 high capacity transformers will be installed by the end of the first stage, which will allow to cover 90% of population and all large settlements with digital television.
